Elimu-Soko Lab

New Hempel Foundation initiative "Elimu-Soko" brings together governments, innovators, and experts for a hands-on workshop to discuss and reach innovative solutions that can be adopted by public school systems in sub-Saharan Africa.

We have launched the first Elimu-Soko Lab with global consulting firm Dalberg. The event on 1 December brought together governments, innovators, and education sector experts for a hands-on workshop on how to build back better public schooling systems in Africa by accelerating cost-effective solutions.

We initiated Elimu-Soko to support governments in removing the obstacles to the use of innovations in public education systems. The initiative will try to provide innovators with a better understanding of government demands, key constraints, opportunities and ultimately accelerate testing and implementation of the cost-effective solutions in public systems.

Giving the keynote address at the event, Hon. Claudette Irere, Minister of State in charge of ICT and TVET in the Ministry of Education, Rwanda, emphasised the need to reimagine our education systems and shape a more resilient future for Africa.

Anders Holm, Executive Director of the Hempel Foundation expressed gratitude to the many stakeholders who participated, for their insights and recommendations.

We look forward to sustaining the momentum and conversations on innovative education as this initiative evolves into the next stages.
